7 September 2018 the Theatre Art Studio opens the 14-th season with the play Three Sisters based on Anton Chekhov piece. This season is special for us.
“From now on the Theatre Art Studio – is a branch of Moscow Art Theatre”, said Sergey Zhenovach. “Reorganization will take approximately 9 months. I will repeat that it is not a fusion or diffusion of two theatres. There is Moscow Art Theatre with its’ own traditions, roots, biography, history. And there is the Theatre Art Studio. They will exist in parallel.”
Our first work in this season will be One Hundred Years of Solitude directed by Egor Peregudov. The theatre composition is based on the novel of Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
“In the beginning of December we are going to show a new version of diploma play which has been previously made by Egor Peregudov – educator of our studio, our foster son and the main director of Russian Academic Youth Theatre. Egor’s play is very interesting, remarkable. Lots of our friends and theatre critics want this play to live. It is impossible to recreate the space of 39-th auditorium in GITIS. Alexander Borovsky has suggested to create a version in space. That’s what we will try to do. The play will last 9 hours, each Saturday. It will begin in the afternoon and will end in the late evening. With 2-3 hour breaks for lunch and rest.”
Premiere is planned on December 2018. In this play will perform: Daniil Obukhov, Nikita Isachenkov, Lev Kotkin, Varvara Nasonova, Alexander Nikolaev, Mariya Korytova, Dmitriy Matveev, Elizaveta Kondakova, Ekaterina Kopylova, Dariya Mureeva, Alexander Medvedev, Nodar Siradze, Tatiyana Galitskaya (Volkova), Igor Lizengevich, Alexander Proshin, Katerina Vasilieva, Dmitriy Lipinskiy.
In our future plans – work on Nikolai Gogol’s play Marriage. We hope to show the play in June 2019. Director of the play – Sergey Zhenovach, set design – Alexander Borovsky, lighting design – Damir Ismagilov, composer – Gregory Gobernik.
“In this season Alexander Borovsky, Damir Ismagilov, Gregory Gobernik and me are starting rehearsals of Bulgakov’s play the Run in Moscow Art Theatre. We hope to see this play in spring. Later we will start rehearsing Gogol’s Marriage. I do hope that it will be a sly, naughty and at the same time сonfessional play.”
We have got more good news. Alexander Borovsky has been given Moscow Visual Arts Award for design set of plays and decoration of the Theatre Art Studio. What is more, Mariya Shashlova and Alexey Vertkov have become Honored Artists of Russian Federation. We are glad and proud!
